SANA 2004 Conference
(Francaise)
1. Papers will be 15 minutes each. They may
be volunteered individually or submitted as
part of a session or symposia. Individually
volunteered papers will be organized into
sessions by the program committee according to
theme and content.
2. Sessions will be 105 minutes each (1
hour & 45 minutes), and will generally consist
of up to five papers with a discussion period.
3. Symposia will generally be formed of a
minimum of two thematically related sessions
of 105 minutes each. Symposia parts will be
held in sequence, with a break between the
parts, and where possible, will be located in
the same room.
4. Roundtables are less formal than
sessions in that participants do not present
formal, 15 minute papers but discuss an issue
or topic laid out by session organizers in
their proposals. Roundtables, like sessions,
are 105 minutes (1 hour & 45 minutes).
5. Workshops consist of a small number of
participants (10-12) who gather around a theme
or subject in a less intensive and less formal
way than a session or a symposium. A workshop
is the equivalent of a session and is 105
minutes long. Workshop organizers should
indicate criteria for participation, i.e.
pre-circulated papers, topic preparation,
pre-registration.
6. Posters present material visually.
Posters will be displayed for 105 minutes (1
hour & 45 minutes), with ample opportunity
provided for discussion and detailed study.
Those proposing posters should fill out the
paper/poster proposal form.
7. Poster sessions group posters to be
exhibited simultaneously, space permitting. A
separate session form should be submitted.
8. Video screenings. If there is enough
interest to warrant it, conference organizers
will facilitate an ethnographic video series.
Those interested in submitting their work
should post a letter or email to the program
committee describing the video. Be sure to
include title, key production personnel,
length, format, its relevance to the
anthropological community, and the
participation of anthropologists in it.
9. Other media. The program committee is
open to presentations via other media but
please contact the organizing committee with
your ideas as soon as possible to work out if
they will fit into the theme and overall
program.
10. Plenary. We welcome the submission of
plenary proposals. A plenary is equivalent to
a session at 105 minutes long, but are unique
in that no other conference functions coincide
with them, and that they are typically devoted
to an individual presentation (such as the
keynote address).
