SANA 2006 Conference

 Hotel Information

We realize that New York City hotels tend to be expensive and hope that all participants will be able to find a comfortable place to stay regardless of the size of their budgets. Here are the two options we can offer:

1. Holiday Inn Soho-Downtown Manhattan

We have reserved a block of 50 rooms at the Holiday Inn Soho-Downtown Manhattan, located near Soho, Chinatown, and Little Italy, and a short subway ride away from the conference location.

However, these rooms will only be held through March 5 at this rate, so act fast if you are interested.

The Holiday Inn has given us a rate of $189 for a single or double room, and $209 for a triple or quad room for the nights of April 19-22, 2006.

To reserve a room, call 212-966-8898. When calling, make sure to mention that you are associated with the Society for the Anthropology of North America.

For more information on the Holiday Inn Downtown see this web link: http://www.hidowntown-nyc.com/

2. Book Your Own Hotel Room

Second, participants may use the following web links to book rooms at a hotel or hostel of your choice.

Please note that the Newman Conference Center is located at 151 East 25th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues in the Gramercy Park Section of Manhattan.

This is an excellent web site that allows users to browse hotels by price (from under $100 to $200 and up) and location. The neighborhoods on the website that are closest to the conference center are "Chelsea and Gramercy," "Midtown South," and "Midtown East."

This is a listing of all the hostels in New York City. The closest hostel to the Newman Conference Center, one block south, is the American Dream Youth Hostel (168 E 24th Street, 212- 260- 9779).
